Coronavirus- Staying informed….

Gov. Henry McMaster + S.C. Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman announced that South Carolina K-12 schools will not reopen for the remainder of the school year. Both officials encouraged flexibility in working with students who need extra assistance + creative graduation ceremonies. 

 

City council announced that $999,750 in assistance will be provided to 220 local businesses from the City of Columbia. The support will come out of a fund the city set up after the coronavirus outbreak, which forced many businesses to either shut down or reduce their operations. The city’s small business office has not released a list identifying who would receive funding but noted that restaurants were the largest group

S.C. State Parks will reopen to the public on May 1. Group facilities, like community buildings + picnic shelters, will remain closed and there will be a limit as to how many people can be in the park at one time.
