WHO Official Links Monkeypox To Sex At A European Rave
How did monkeypox begin its alarming spread? One official believes it was a party hookup.
Dr. David Heymann of the World Health Organization says the current leading theory is that the disease was transmitted sexually, at two rave parties held in Spain and Belgium.
More than 90 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed so far, more than two-thirds of which are in Spain or Portugal.

Seven Cases of Monkeypox, One Confirmed, Reported in U.S.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating possible new cases of Monkeypox in the U.S.
There is one confirmed case of the virus in Massachusetts, while six others are presumed in Washington state, Utah, Florida, and New York.
While vaccines are planned to be released from a stockpile, the CDC has said that there is no need for widespread vaccination of the public.
Monkeypox is a cousin virus of smallpox. Though less transmissible, it can be spread via close contact between individuals.

Protect Yourself…
Monkeypox is continuing to spread across the globe, with 346 cases in 22 countries confirmed so far. So how can you make sure you’re protected?
First off, monkeypox spreads through close contact – in fact, most new cases have been sexually transmitted.
Also, people who have been vaccinated against smallpox – even as a child – are mostly protected from monkeypox.
For further protection, keep away from people who have been diagnosed or are showing symptoms. Use facemasks or PPE gear if necessary.
Wash your hands after coming in contact with animals or people who have been infected, or after touching surfaces that they have touched.
Most experts don’t think it’s necessary to isolate or avoid public spaces.
Children, pregnant women, and people who are immunocompromised have the highest risk of a serious infection.
