Offset says Cardi B is his “bestie,” admits talking about Takeoff’s death is hard
Cardi B is more than Offset‘s wife: he says that she’s his “bestie.” The rapper spoke about his relationship with Cardi in a new cover story for Variety.
“She always got my back, right or wrong,” he said. “We both are on the same mission to make each other better. Social is her strong point, so I listen to her social advice. And me, it’s the music, but I play behind the scenes.”
Offset says he and Cardi make a “great team,” adding, “We’re a powerhouse at this point — icon status. We believe in family. We’re always going to keep winning.”
His wife is featured on his upcoming album alongside Travis Scott, Future, Chlöe, Latto and TakeOff, who he struggled with discussing during his interview.
“It’s hard for me to talk about s*** right now,” Offset said of Takeoff, who was killed outside a Houston bowling alley in November. “I’ve never talked about this stuff … Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all this s*** is hard. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. That s*** hurts.”
“Like, it’s gonna put me in a mood, and I don’t want to get in that mood,” he continued. “Some things I don’t never tell nobody. He’s not here. That s*** feels fake, bro. I get through my day thinking it’s fake. And I don’t say nothing to nobody about it.”
Details about Offset’s next album will soon be revealed. Though it’ll be his second solo project, he says, “This is me going full-fledged into my solo career.”
“The objective is to do it fully and smash sh** and f*** the game up as a solo artist,” Offset continued. “I’m coming through, bustin’ through the door. It’s all set, my next chapter. It’s my time.”
