Petition Asks McDonald’s And Burger King To Eliminate Plastic Toys From Kids Menu
Fast food dining could be a different experience for children if the 332,000 undersigners of a new petition in the UK have their way.
Started by Rachael Wood and her two daughters, the missive asks chains like McDonald’s and Burger King to eliminate plastic toys from their kids’ meals because they typically can’t be recycled.
“We are Ella and Caitlin aged 9 and 7, and we’ve been learning all about the environment at school and the problem of plastic. It made us very sad to see how plastic harms wildlife and pollutes the ocean, and we want to change this,” the petition states, adding, “We want anything they give to us to be sustainable so we can protect the planet for us and for future generations.”
According to the Wall Street Journal, both restaurants are exploring options going forward.
