Oprah Pays Respects To Ahmaud Arbery’s Mom With Surprise Call, Gift

Oprah was among the celebrities who are showing solidarity to Ahmaud Arbery’s family as they deal with his murder.

Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones said she received a phone call from Oprah on what would’ve been Ahmaud’s 26th birthday. During the call, Oprah gave her condolences and birthday wishes for Ahmaud and shared that she was happy that his alleged killers were jailed.

Oprah also hoped for justice for Ahmaud and told Cooper-Jones that she was sending a “gift” to her. Wanda says she doesn’t know how Oprah got her number, but she was surprised by the call.

Many celebrities have reached out to Cooper-Jones and walked the 2.23 miles, which represents the date of his murder, in honor of his birthday, and to show their support of justice for Ahmaud. Gayle King and Rev. Jesse Jackson reached out to Cooper-Jones as well, with Rev. Jackson said he wanted to see them in person once it was safe to travel.

What would you do if you got a blind call from Oprah?
