Residents of Kansas City, MO voted to remove Dr. martin Luther King Jr.’s name from a historic street.  City council changed the name of the 10 mile street.  known as The Paseo to Martin Luther King Boulevard. Some residents then launched a petition campaign called “Save The  Paseo” to put the name change on the Nov. 5th ballot.  Some residents accused the campaign of being racist, calling the street a “powerful symbol” for black residents.  Their argument is that Paseo should not have changed, they just should have created a street for Dr. King. Apparently voters showed up and out because the name has been reverted back to “The Paseo by a 70-30 margin.
