“Black Panther” Gets Top Award at SAGs

The Ryan Coogler directed film Black Panther picked up the top award at last night’s SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

The win also made history. Marking the first time a superhero film was nominated for the top prize and came out victorious.

“To be young, gifted and black. We all know what it’s like to be told there is not a place for you to be featured, yet you are young, gifted, and black.” Boseman said as he spoke for the entire cast. “We know what it’s like to be beneath and not above. That is what we went to work with every day because we knew that we had something special that we wanted to give the world.”

Last night’s win now makes Black Panther a formidable opponent to pick up the Best Picture Oscar at the upcoming Academy Awards.

Do you think Black Panther will win the Best Picture award at the Oscars? Were you surprised that the movie won the top award last night?

In other Black Panther news, fans Are Upset With the Black Panther Cast

After winning the top prize at last night’s SAG Awards, some fans weren’t happy with the cast of the film for not including the creator of the superhero in their acceptance speech.

Chadwick Boseman, who played the role of Black Panther, spoke for the cast and thanked the director, Disney execs, producers, and Marvel Studios execs, but didn’t say anything about creator Stan Lee or co-creator Jack Kirby.

That sent fans on Twitter into a tizzy. Combine that with the fact that Lee wasn’t mentioned during the “In Memoriam” portion of the show and you’ve got a real problem with Marvel fans.

After the win, Michael B. Jordan did that Lee and Kirby when he made comments after the win, but fans didn’t think that was enough.

Do you think that Boseman was wrong for not mentioning Stan Lee in his acceptance speech? Was mentioning Lee after the win count? Did you even notice that Chadwick didn’t mention Stan Lee during his acceptance speech?
