CLICK HERE to visit the PALSS website | Get tested and know your status on HIV. |  | | Churches, civic groups rewarded for fighting prostate cancer | Screenings will be held at community locations from March 1 to Sept. 30. | As part of its new Real Men Prostate Health Campaign, Palmetto Health invites churches and civic groups in Richland, Lexington, Fairfield and Pickens counties to participate in the hospital’s free prostate cancer screening events.
Five churches or groups that recruit and screen the most men (at least 25) can win $1,000 each. In addition, one church or organization in the Midlands and one in Pickens each can win $2,500 for submitting the best health advocacy plan.
The free screenings, which involve a simple blood test, are open to minority men age 40 and older and Caucasian men 50 and older.
In addition to prostate cancer screenings, Palmetto Health’s Office of Community Services provides free screenings for cervical, colon and breast cancers, including mammograms, to uninsured and underinsured people.
